Balconies in the Making

Have you ever seen balconies being created? Have you ever wondered how they stay up? At the construction site on Avenue C between East 4th and 5th Streets, the balconies are being created now:

As you can see, the I-beams that are used to support the floor extend further to support the balcony. That's a relief — there's no reason to worry about them falling off!

Each corner of the balcony will be secure.
