The Closed Door

Do you recognize this door, on Avenue C and East 4th Street?

Door.

Of course you don't! That's because this is the first time this door, to the beloved Avenue C Deli Corp., has ever been closed!

No one knows why it was closed, but it's my guess that the cord that was being used to keep it open broke, or came undone. Something!

You saw it here first, folks… on East Village Today!

  1. why doesn't East Village today use its editorial power to address more pressing issues than doors left open? Or is this a metaphor?

    1. East Village Today exists to spread awareness of East Village coolness. Open/closed doors are filler, along the lines of "human interest" stories. Another blog I know of, called Quilas, posts more serious articles, but sometimes the author is tired when he gets home from work and doesn't feel motivated to write longer, more researched pieces. That's my understanding, anyway!

  2. Well they have an air conditioner; maybe it was running, and they were aiming to comply with the very good, newly passed law (even though I doubt it's in effect yet) that says that if a business has an AC running, it may not keep its door propped open.
